Jeff Ward entered Michigan 30 points out of the championship lead, but a commanding win saw much of that deficit disappear. The #9 team took home the checkers in the Yaz’s Sandwiches & More 200, closing the gap to Michael Chrobok to just 14 points heading into the Season 5 finale.

Chrobok finished 2nd, claiming the Safe Driver Award and its 10 point bonus for the third consecutive season. Adam Jurski came home 3rd, enjoying a slice of BeefJurski’s Cheesecake on the podium. Part-timer Gael Brooks hard-charged his way from 16th on the grid to finish 4th. Marc Cohn rounded out the top 5.

Dee Damboise set the fastest lap of the race in the #50 Chuck’s Auto Parts machine, but was relegated to a 17th-place finish. Damboise will start on the Mahan Speed Laboratories Pole Position in the next event at Iowa Speedway.

The Pretty Good Racing League heads to Newton, Iowa for the championship-deciding MARSS Properties Vacation Rentals 175. Can Jeff Ward win the summer season two years in a row, or will Michael Chrobok finally close one out and take home his first PGRL crown? Tune into the Virtual Grip Network LIVE at 8:50pm on Tuesday, August 15th to catch all the action under the lights and amidst the cornfields.
