One driver continued his hot streak, winning for the fourth week in a row. Another converted back-to-back runner-up finishes into his first victory of the season. After the chips fell in Nevada, Colton Salek and Mike Rasimas broke the bank, sweeping the double-header at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

RACE 1 RECAP:

Scott Eckrich earned the Mahan Speed Laboratories Pole Award with a four-lap qualifying average of 30.821 seconds. The #70 Mooobil 1 Chevrolet led much of the race’s first 30 circuits, but a problem with the fuel pickup forced the Illinois-based driver to return to the pits under yellow and top up on gas. The miscue cycled Mike Rasimas and Colton Salek to the front. On the restart, Michael Chrobok charged to the lead, throwing caution to the wind when it came to tire saving, as the Canadian placed a bet on another yellow. That yellow never came, and the #72’s tires were done for, with Cody Dempster correctly predicting that “Chrobok can’t close.” Colton Salek bided his time and pounced at an opportune moment, easily passing Chrobok and sailing off into the distance. Salek earned his fourth win of Season 6. Mike Rasimas and Ricky Hardin rounded out the podium.

RACE 2 RECAP:

Race 2 was marked by a range of pit strategies, as crew chiefs gambled on when cautions would fall. Steel Horse Racing teammates Adam Jurski and Thomas George looked strong early. Pelletier-McQuistion Simulations used clever pit calls to get their drivers towards the front in the middle portion of the event. As the laps wound down, Ricky Hardin and Cody Dempster challenged Travis McQuistion for the top spot, but it was ultimately Mike Rasimas who prevailed. Rasimas surged from 5th to 1st in the final 10 laps, edging McQuistion for his first victory of Season 6.

POINTS IMPLICATIONS:

Johnathon Caddell extends his points lead to 76 markers over a new challenger, perennial second-place finisher Michael Chrobok.
